13 September 2010-Stripping out the interior reveals current state of bolts on the forward lifting plate. This gives an indication of the condition of the remaining keel bolts. A section of the keelson was rotten and came away with the lifting steel.
Mark Lewis suggests a section of the keel would need a new piece of hardwood scarfed in and I ask Mark to draw a few more keel bolts to check the condition.
We agree that the lifting eyes forward and in the engine compartment are a thing of the past and need not be replaced. All in all a lucky escape!
