Fairey Faun

Post by JohnSK »

I have bought my Faun which is sitting in the car port receiving attention.
structually it appears sound the last owner having spent year epoxying and sheathing the hull The interior needs sorting and the whole requires a good paint job.
The original outboard - bought new in 1960 - 70 but unused and in mint condition has one to a good Fairey home. I am looking to a Suzuki 8hp in due course - any views on this?
Having the boat at home under cover certainly beats trekking down to the coast for a brief spell of work in a boatyard between rain showers!
Information on the Fauns is limited and I am trying to find out more about the small Faireys. Charles has been of great help and I am putting out feelers locally since of course the Fauns were fitted out in Maidenhead on Hamble hulls.
Finally, the boat has come with no hull number and no name. Only suggestion so far from the family is "Faunicator"! I must be spared this

"Mister Tumnus" is probably a bit heavy on the sign-writer's fees.

The Faun Wikipedia page may throw something up.

Of course, "Bambi" is always a possibility ;-)
