vent covers

Xanthus is having her topsides painted and will no doubt look splendid as a result.
What will let her down is refitting the old "parson's hat" vent covers. These are white plastic which is yell owing. Does anyone have a source of new ones? I have thoght of stainless but the random distribution against the white topsides will make the boat look as if it has smallpox

Hi John.

The early 31's had them made of copper pressed out of a mould and painted to match the hull. I fitted stainless ones when I owned Venator, would there be any merit in getting your fittings spray painted and low bake oven 'cooked'. I am sure a motor trade bodyshop would be able to do this for you.

Regards

Ian

Mine are GRP mouldings.

I rubbed them down and sprayed them with Halford's finest acrylic automotive paint.

I'll let you know how long it lasts in a year or so ;-)

Cheers,
S
