Threadneedle update

Post by Midnight Blue »

I have been asked by Chris Randall to post a note with an update on the restoration work being undertaken on Threadneedle by Mark Lewis at Custom Yacht Works.

This is the update from Chris...
Some stripping has been done and several areas of rot have been identified. It looks like the transom will have to be completely rebuilt and, sadly, she will lose her stern doors as a solid back end will be so much stronger and durable.
The boat is being dried out at the moment, and we hope to get her into the works soon to begin restoration.
Engines have been removed and I will be dealing with those myself. I'm hoping that this job will not involve more than just a service and to cure oil leaks etc. I will be fitting block heaters so that the smoke won't be too bad on startup!

I have attached a photo which shows that the windscreen has been removed for rebuilding and the cabin roof is now exposed for evaluation.
Interesting to see two other H28s in the background.

Best wishes
Chris
