The link arm between the rudders on Dawn Patrol has a pair of track rod ends one at either end. One LH thread and one RH thread. They are "male" threads into the connector tube. Any thoughts. I did look up the forum archive but mostly H28 reference. Boat is 1977 build. Any suggestions gratefully received

I'm not clear what the issue is, but I've emailed you a couple of drawings, just in case there is a clue...

Hi again. To clarify I need new joints. I am trying to find out if anybody has been down this route and identified which vehicle they are from and therefore a part number.
The threaded part is male and goes into the link bar between the tiller Arms.
Many thanks and thanks for your input Charles.

Mine were Leyland Sherpa but let discovery ones fit. Suggest using a thread gauge to check before purchase as they could have changed supplier. T

They could well be truck size. Ben has put me in touch with a guy in Southampton so I will send him some pictures. Thread size into the link bar is 3/4" which is quite substantial.
Thank you all.

I suspect UNF. For truck parts in Southampton try Adams Morey. Also the x-mod if you can get all the dimensions. If you search for a Land Rover part it may give you thread sizes (both ends). This will help you zero in. Of course you could also take the track rod to an auto factors. T

Quick internet search says Land Rover is 11/16 unf. T

Not sure if this helps...
I replaced the couplings on the rudders on Midnight Blue. I bought two trackrod ends for a Mk10 Jaguar, then had a stainless steel tube made up with opposite threads at each end so as you turned the rod one way it engaged with the thread on both trackrods, easy to adjust the rudder alignment then.
I bought the trackrod ends from Motorshop 1 in Rochford Essex. tel no 01702 547501, or www.motorshop1.co.uk.

Thank you all for your input. Ben put me in touch with a guy at Bursledon and I am going to be on the mainland this week so I'm paying the guy a visit armed with the old track rod ends, link arm and tiller arms.
He assures me that he has the parts in stock so fingers crossed. Paul Fairall also gave me a lead who has a pair in stock albeit more expensive.
