I think the only low maintenance boat is one that goes in the bath.

It took me far too long to realise that I couldn't get the standard of results I want working outside. Why it took so long I'll never know, its not as if I havent done all this before.
Once it dawned on me what I needed to do, it then took a while to get into place.

It looks very familiar plastic boats have loads of their own problems ,however once you are finished there should be less work.
Owners think they need little or no looking after and essential work gets left.I am still struggling on finding more new
problems but the end is in sight. several major jobs are to be left for next winter (the Deck Engines and Mast ) as i hope to use the boat a bit this year. Will you be in this year or still to much to finish. Nick

Hi Nick
To be honest when I bought her I knew she'd need new engines, but I didn't expect all the rotten plywood floors and the supports underneath, as you say, even a GRP boat can hide some horrors.
Way too much work for this year, knowing that, back in March we bought a Mitchell 31 (with a nice Sabre M215c) as a stop gap so we can go boating this year (which has just been cancelled for this weekend due to Felix having gastroenteritis.).

I think I need one more evening on the timbers, then it'll be plywood templating.

Sounds familiar I keep saying "finished in 2 weeks " that was in Feb still more jobs coming to light. I even need new fire extinguisher as I had an unexpected release of contents ( dropped it) it was out of date though . Nick

The irony of this is that I'm putting more new bits of timber in my GRP Bulldog than I did in my Huntsman 28.
