A few progress pictures of the interior now starting to look a bit better.

Looking nice Nick. Pride of ownership is a great pleasure.So many boats are scruffy and neglected
something I can never understand. If you don t use a boat and can t be bothered keeping it
smart, then sell it.
One thing on older fibreglass boats which I find frightening is the cost of respray. Circa £30K
seems the price around here for full job on a 30ft boat.

Seems a lot for respray but i suppose if they do all the stripping down repair to gel coat and damage there are lots of hours involved. Taken all morning just to get cleats and fairleads of today and still one is stuck, plus fender rings the screws are not moving just getting damaged .The deck I fear is going to be a major issue not sure of how to fix at reasonable cost. A couple of days ago had a nice time cleaning the fuel tanks . There is a small stainless gauze filter on the end of the fuel line GRPd in the bottom of the tank all bunged up which will need sorting out. the aft cabin is further on than in the photos with most trim and teak brightwork in place before finishing I shall have to decide on the location of the power pump for the trim tabs with better access than before . I have thought of installing in engine bay and just running longer oil hoses to the tabs it should not affect operation . Nick

If you can get onto the cleat nuts with an air or electric impact wrench, that often persuades stuck fastenings, especially after soaking with WD40 or penetrating oil. Are the fender hooks screwed or bolted in? If the latter, you may be able to cut them off from underneath. Heat is clearly no good near GRP.
I replaced my original ally fender hooks with stainless items with welded studs, avoiding the worst of the sealing problem - baseline marine chandlery part no 1585 https://www.baselinemarine.com/shopexd.asp?id=1310 Good luck.

Fender hooks are aluminium with small ss screws the ally is very powdery which is not good . The stuck cleats are the forward ones right by the FWD B/head access through fwd locker Again alloy cleats are secured with ss bolts the nuts look as if they are bonded in with GRP mat to secure in place . Even with large screw diver and spanner to help turn them it seems to be no go will have another go tomorrow last resort will be cutting tools. Nick

The bonus if grinding the captive nuts out is that you can then put a nice big backing pad behind it and never get the problem again as you won't have captive nuts. I found my ally cleats had weakened over the years (one broke) so have replaced with stainless. If you are sorting your interior and perhaps respraying, you don't want to have to do this job after as is has potential to cause you to make dust on the inside and worst case have to redrill the bow if a new cleat has different hole centres.
