Chromed brass half moon nosing.

Post by Tom Wright »

Whether that is how to describe it is debatable! In rebuilding
Navarre (H28) I have insufficient usable trim to apply to the top of the windscreen. Can anyone tell me where I could find this item. There is simply none available in Guernsey. Is there a suitable replacement, say in hard white rubber, plastic or stainlss?

Grateful for any help

Tom

The white rubber found on the top of the fantome and spearfish screen (and some 31s I think) is obtainable from the portmere rubber co in southampton.

I have a similar problem which I will need to resolve soon. I suspect the only answer is to drill and fit suitable lengths of half-round brass strip and then take them off and get them chrome plated. Has anyone got a better idea?

Dear John Boggis.

I referred to Porthome Rubber Company and they have no idea what I am talking about. So I drew a blank but thanks anyway.

Very odd. Portmere certainly used to stock the extrusion under the name Spearfish rubber. It has been mentioned on this forum too.

Last year I replaced the rubber on my Spearfish screen, and as John confirms, it came from Portmere on 02380223628,I have just spoken to Anne, and she confirms that they have a roll of Spearfish rubber in stock....for what it is worth I have the old rubber from my screen at home....
