Hello,
I am new to forum because I am in the prosess of taking over my fathers 1972 Spearfish, this seems to be a source of a lot of good information for me as a future spear-owner, but I have not found anything to solve this problem for me so here it comes.
The boat is equipped with the Ford Mermaid, Dover block 180hp Engines and both the tachometer cables are broken, these have been repaired several times by my father, but as time has gone by they just seem to be beyond saving.
Is there a place to buy these specific cables or a known shop who can produce them for me? I assume I am not the first person experiencing this so I am interested in hearing what solution you have found for this.
I am located in Norway so there are close to zero knowledge about these boats and limited knowledge with these engines in my local boating community and boat repair shops.
Looking forward to hearing what people have to say about this.
Magnus

Re: Tachometer cables spearfish
Good morning Magnus,
Welcome - lucky you to be the custodian of a Spearfish.
If you have the ends of the cables that is a very good place to start. Even better if, I assume, you have the fittings and know the length of the outer sheath of the cable.
In which case this company might be able to help ... https://www.speedograph-richfield.com/ ... and cable inners can be mailed to Norway at a sensible cost.
Let us know how you get on. This way the Forum helps others. Cheers, Martin.

Re: Tachometer cables spearfish
Thank you for the reply Martinh.
I do have both the ends and the fittings, so all that is left is to get down to the boat and measure the sheaths
This was extremely helpful and this has been a horn in the side for my father for some yearsnow, so I am very happy to most likely be able to sort this relatively quick.
I will try to get som pictures and information in the thread from this repair so that it can be a useful resource for this issue.
