Help... Unique(ish) part needed

Has anyone got, or know where I can obtain, one of the cotter pins that attach the tiller arm to the rudder stock on a Huntress?

It is a round pin with a protruding thread... The pin is about half inch in diameter and one side has a flat.
Pin is about 2 inches long and the thread is about an inch extra.

Sort of similar...but the flat goes the full length of the pin and it is brass or similar...definitely not steel

Mmm might be an oddball now, you might have to get one machined up.

Yeah was worried that may be the case...but it must be a common part on all Huntresses with a standard single shaft drive and single rudder

As with the steering wheel nut, on the FM detail drawings the tiller and its fittings are all part of the 'Whitlock type Q' steering gear set and not shown in detail...

Are you able to post a photo of the item and where it goes? This would allow us to work out how to solve it. Do you know what material it is and what material it fits into?

No photos of the part, I'm afraid. 1. It is broken and 2. the remaining "pin" part is still in the tiller arm collar helping to secure the tiller to the rudder stock.

Anyway...I have issues posting any photos on here!

Phil 62 ,is correct the brass cotter pin is basically an up sized bicycle cotter pin as has you say its unique to the
Admiralty pattern I don't think its available off the shelf anywhere.
You'll have remove the remains from the tiller/stock and hopefully a small workshop should be able to to turn
a new one up for you unless you take a chance on getting the 2 parts brazed together but personally I would go
for the new one.

Thanks for the offer... We ended up making one on the lathe at the Reading Hackspace (my friend is a member there) and it turned out really well and has been happily installed and working for the past year.

In fact, it was removed (and then refitted) in November during a haul-out to re-pitch the prop, as the rudder stock has to be dropped to get the prop off the shaft!
