Hi Nick, Shadows exhaust hoses were replaced last year.
Mike Wills did it with the fuel tanks in but the engines were out of the boat at the time.

Hi Mark if the engines are out it would give a bit more room to pull the hose through .The problem is slight leak on the lower elbow joint from the port engine the hose clamps are actually right in the bulkhead hole . This makes access difficult I am coming out( no not that) in the next month and will strip out turbo /hose etc to get some extra room for working . The tank looks like a real problem if it needs to be removed .Nick

While I haven't worked on A Fantome, there will be some common features with a Spearfish. I would definitely remove the elbows from the engines to give access, especially as the hose will have to come in from the front end, pushed to the back and secured to the outlets. Then the front end can be done. Modern hose is much more flexible than the old stuff which makes it much easier. Not having to remove the engines saves having to remove align them and the cost of a crane. I wonder whether the clamps being in an awkward spot can be engineered out. If you have photos I may be able to offer ideas.

Hi Toby I have been down again and there is so much stuff that I cant really get good access . I shall wait until boat is out of the water It seems silly to fiddle around while afloat and risk major 5" leak if exhaust hose comes adrift.

Nick, no problem. Strongly agree with not doing this afloat, and your insurance company wouldn't think it funny. There is an article in FN on how I did my outlets which may help. If you take it out somewhere local to Hampshire, I don't mind taking a look. T
