Great Photo

Post by Unknown2 »

Have a look at Rick Tomlinson's photos of the special Round the Island Race the other day. Towards the end of the sequence on TheDailySail.com there is a super shot of a Spearfish alongside MariaCha4 with all sails set, both going flat out.

Alan, thanks for that. Was very excited about seeing the picture, but the only trouble is that is looks as if one has to subscribe to The Daily Sail to be able to see the photos. For most of us subscribing to a service aimed at racing sailors may just mean that we get inundated with info and pictures that although spectacular, may not necessarily be of daily interest. Or have I got it wrong? And how much is the subscription?

Monday's Round the Island Race (I gather it was clockwise, like the America's Cup) was apparently pretty spectacular, but why ws it so poorly advertised? I think that a lot of people who would have enjoyed seeing it were unaware that it was on! Ah well, will just have to get up early to watch Saturday's event instead.

Sorry but it is one of the best sites for the sailing fraternity. Only the Americans might argue otherwise (Sailing Anarchy). Try Rick's own site at www.rick-tomlinson.com

Hi all If I guess right and not having seen the photo I would guess that was Gordon Currey with mari cha,, I've been following the transat on the NYYC site which had very good coverage of that and the round the island, it was the clockwise way and trinity House even put back the Nab Lightship for the day to replicate the original Americas Cup course, Ivan and I took a couple of friends out to watch the start na dthen went to Lymington for a very pleasant lunch in the Stanhope, on the way back we saw mari cha going like the clappers past Yarmouth, now thats why we have a boat!!!
