History anyone?

Post by Tony Button »

As the new, and very happy, owner of Huntsman 31 'Eclipse'(hull no;27), I wonder if anyone might have little pieces of her history that they would be willing to share with me.

Photos would be very welcome (and easily e-mailed), together with any other snippets of her history.

I do know from Tony H-H that she was once named 'Regent Huntsman',and also 'Sulex', but other names have also been mentioned. Any help to fill in the gaps would be welcome. (ex owners especially welcome)

'Eclipse' will be lifted ashore for maintenance work for a couple of months after Chrismas, with one task being the addition of a 'camping' canopy. If there is any info available out there re the design or constuction of this item, or any contact info for anyone who has done the same, I would certainly welcome it.

Regards,

Tony Button.

Tony,
I think she also was called 'White Regent', when I got her she had a Portuguese name, I will look it up for you.
The Sulex , was Su for Susan and Lex for Alex.
I go back to work tomorrow for two weeks then I will be off for four weeks,I will contact you after the New Year.
Busy removing cylinder head on the stbd engine of the 'Spirit of Cumbrae'. ( Ex Lyndon Lady )

Members speak very highly of Charles Arton for covers (see the reference page for contact details).

I have never been able to get him to come to my boat, so i have used Tecsew who made a good camping hood but had to be supervised rather closely.

Covercraft made me a good over-all cover but i cannot speak for their steelwork.

Arun Sails made the full camping cover for our Huntress. A superb job, both metalwork and canvas. The Huntress is a big cockpit to cover and they solved it by having a folding pramhood at the front and mating up to a similar arrangement at the back.

Highly recommended.

Hello Tony,

Charlie Arton is your man for all covers etc. He has just made a new sprayhood and back drop cover for Fantome "Gin MIx", aslo a cockpit cover. I am delighted with the results. He is a busy man as john said but give him as much notice as you can and I am sure he will be able to help. When he did our templates Gin Mix was in the shed and this made his life much easier as the brown paper templates did not blow all over the boat yard !! Call him on 01590 644682 he is Lymington based. Gook luck

Regards

Huw
