Started watching this a month ago and last night watched 14 episodes, going to get up to date with it tonight. What a skilled young man, brilliant to see someone of his age with such passion and alround skill and knowledge.
His grasp of the problems and how to fix them is very impressive. I am beginning to think that he has almost got to the point where the existing shell could be used for reference purposes in the construction of a new "tally ho" and then preserved for posterity as it stands.
I can almost sense EP24 or 25... so having looked at it really carefully, I've decided to pull the keel out from under the boat and start with new stem, stern posts and dead woods...
If he has documented all he has done there is a fair chance somebody else could build a new 'duplicate replica' from that information.I bet the support from all the followers of this project has dramatically allowed more continuous work to be done by Leo, whereas earlier on it seemed he was taking regular breaks 'for work'.
Just watched episode 23 the guy has got an amazing depth of knowledge. Love the geometry and setting out and surveying. Strikes a chord as spent most of my career checking out full size setting out (rods) on bespoke joinery.
Thought the humming bird a nice little omen as we have just changed "Andres" name back to her original name of "Hummingbird"
It's when he resignedly said "I don't really want to get into recasting the lead keel" that I started to get really concerned! The project is becoming like an oil-spill - it just keeps getting bigger and bigger!
