FOC Summer Rally on 7-8 June 2024

Post by Midnight Blue »

As we start thinking about making plans for summer, we would like to remind you about this year’s Summer Rally at Bembridge Harbour on Saturday 8thJune.

Once again, we think it will be fun to extend the weekend with a pre meet the day before…for this year we will meet in Cowes on the Friday night.

The Itinerary will run something like this:

1. 7th June: For those who would like to meet on Friday afternoon and evening, we have booked West Cowes Yacht Haven and members can arrange their own dining.

1. 8th June: The Summer Rally. Arrive in Bembridge in the afternoon (HW 14:40) – We will run a Concours in the afternoon followed by drinks on the pontoon and a BBQ in the early evening (Invites and payment details to be sent out after Easter). We have reserved the rally area, which relies on rafting out, but if you require a finger berth then its best to book these as soon as possible as the individual finger pontoons are popular and booked very early.

So, if you would like to attend in June and would like a rafting berth or finger berth, please login in to the Bembridge Harbour portal Self Service Portal (eharbours.co.uk) and reserve a berth, quoting the Rally Code FOA64 so that we will be all grouped together.

Note: although payment is taken when booking if for any reason you have to cancel…the booking becomes a credit and can be used at a later date.

Please see the email from Bembridge Harbour below for details. We hope to see you there, the caterers at Bembridge have been excellent at FOC Rallies in the past, and last year was immense fun and we had a very good turnout.

Kind regards,

Mark Wilton (on Shadow).

Rally Name: Fairey Owners Club
Rally Reservation Date: Saturday 8th June 2024

Dear Mark
Thank you for booking a Rally to Bembridge Harbour on behalf of the Fairey Owners Association for 15 boats, arriving on Saturday 8th June 2024 and departing on Sunday 9th June. Your Rally has been allocated the Rally Code: FOA64 and you have been registered as the Rally Organiser (RO).
Your designated Point of Contact at the Harbour is Thomas White who will be happy to help you co-ordinate your Rally requirements and offer advice on all things local.
All Rally members should book online, using the Rally Code, by the closing date of 18th May (3 weeks before your arrival date). During the online booking process, Rally members will be asked to select either the Rally Rafting Area (on the outside of the main Duver pontoon for ease of access) or a Finger pontoon. Please be aware that Finger pontoons are available to all visitors and are therefore subject to availability - early booking is advisable.
A Duver Marina plan is available on the Harbour website, or click: Duver Marina Plan.
After the closing date, boats not yet booked, or additional boats wanting to join the Rally, will be very welcome to book on an individual basis, subject to berthing availability. Please notify us in advance of any specific berthing needs.
The Rally Code covers only the date(s) of the booked Rally. Anyone wanting to arrive earlier or stay longer are very welcome and can make one online booking on their Customer Account (the system will automatically adjust for any relevant rally discount).
Rally Discounts
With the exception of the peak period 1st July until 31st August inclusive, weekend rallies (Friday, Saturday and Bank Holidays) receive a 5% discount and those mid-week (Sunday to Thursday) receive 10%, on berthing fees and electricity - this Rally Discount is available only for the Rally Rafting Area, and not for finger berths (and is in addition to the online booking discount).
To enable us to provide the best possible service, please provide your Rally members with the Rally Code and the information contained within this email. More information is available on the Harbour website Rallies page including our BHA Visitor Terms and Conditions, with which, along with BHA General Terms and Conditions, all vessels must comply.
Shoreside Facilities
We are delighted to say that building work is well underway at the Duver Marina, a new bio-treatment plant has been installed, and by the end of April/early May we expect to be able to move into our new, purpose-built facilities complex for the Admin and Berthing Offices, with increased numbers of showers and toilets (reverting to separate ladies and gents) and laundry facilities.
Our large marquee (or a similar provision), overlooking the pontoons and Harbour, can be hired by rallies for private use - 3 large gas barbecues are also available to hire, for a DIY lunch or supper, or you might want to book an outside caterer to make life easier. Advance booking is necessary please, and marquee / BBQ hire is not available during Harbour events (dates as above).
The Duver Café and Steve’s Bar (slightly relocated) are open from Easter through to the end of October. More information, including opening hours can be found on their respective website/Facebook pages (links below).
Brading Haven Yacht Club and Bembridge Sailing Club both welcome visiting rallies and offer bar and dining facilities (please book in advance for dining - links below).
We will send through separately a promotional Rally Poster, to distribute electronically and/or display if you wish, on your Club members’ noticeboard.
With very best wishes from
the Harbour Team
