Does anyone know what thread the breather on a BW72C is please?

According to the manual:
3/8-18 "Dryseal" NPSF

So 3/8 - 18 NPTT (National Pipe Thread Taper) should work with a bit of fiddling due to the taper.

Don't try a BSP tap in there as its 19 TPI not 18.

Thanks Scott. I knew the breather was leaking and wanted to turn up prepared. Imagine my surprise when it turned out to be a push fit. Used a bit of instant gasket to seal as it was very loose. I guess there are probably two types. Thanks again.

Pretty sure the BW72C breather uses a 1/4" BSP thread, but I’d recommend double-checking on the casing—some variants had slight changes depending on the year. I’ve seen a few with adapters fitted too, so worth measuring directly if in doubt.
