Nina III was the 1968 Paris boat show boat. One of half a dozen GRP 27's built and a sister to Giovanna the successful race boat. The base hull was an extended version of the GRP 25' Christina which was marked improvement over the early hot moulded ply 23'6" Huntress hulls and the Walter Lawrence cold moulded ply 25' hulls build out by Bruce Campbell. For these later GRP boats Ray Hunt was consulted, he came to visit Bruce in Hamble and various updates and improvements to running surfaces and spray rails were made.
The boat was originally fitted out with ply uppers including cockpit, decks, cabin and wheelhouse she has now been stripped back ready to rebuilt into a new format. The hull is in excellent structural condition with good solid gelcoat. I had envisioned creating an open dayboat something like a Riva Aquarama or 'The Pup' but with the extra hull length meaning that the cockpit would not be compromised by a large engine box by instead using a v-drive or outdrive. By using an epoxy and structural foam build she could be light, fast and very strong with great classic lines.
