Swordsman "Cyrano"

Post by DIJohnson »

Having recently bought "Cyrano" with good mate and previous owner Mick Doyle she has just been returned back to the Hamble where we will be restoring her over the coming months.

As she had been kept on a swinging mooring in Falmouth and then laid up ashore and not used for several years there is a fair bit of repair, restoration and upgrade work to do. Despite this the boat is in very good structural condition having been extensively restored by Peter Foulkes when Mick owned her back in the early 2000's.

There are, however, a few original fittings missing including the 6" aft "T" cleats so if anyone has these and would like to sell them we would be interested in buying them. As a minimum we need 2 but would also like to add midships cleats so another 2 would be ideal.

We also need teak to replace the rubbing strake around the bow and forward port side and bathing platform slats so if anyone has any teak they would like to sell we would also be interested in this.

Many thanks
Dave Johnson (The one with Tantarella "Super Seahorse")

Please contact me on 07387-157137 if you can help.

Dave
I don't have the mooring cleats you are seeking but i came across this company at a craft fair who could I'm sure would cast you 4 if you can provide one to for them to take a pattern. I asked them that very question about cleats in general and they appeared keen to help.
They made be worth trying if no one comes forward with an offer of spare ones…..

Thanks Mark, Could be worth a go if we can't find any S&L originals.

Last time I looked, Classic Marine produced a good copy of the S/L bollard-cleats. Triple plated with an option to drill the base for a threaded rod.

However, they now don't appear to list the heavier duty ones I used. They may however have the patterns to cast them as specials.

Norfolk Marine is however showing a 5" version of the heavier cleat.
