I've got the first Bulldog wheelhouse window assembled. I good chum of mine suggested filling the bottom of the frame channel with Arbo BR, but finishing round the edge with silicone, should be waterproof and possible to dismantle. So I've tried it, if it fails, I can blame him!

HI all - I took my screens down to Poole yesterday for a very informative hour or so with the guys at Precision. However, in typical fashion, I left a bit of the trim behind and that is the bit they need. It was mentioned in passing that a 'boat owner from Fareham' is heading down next week - is it anyone on here? If so, could I ask if you'd be happy to take a small bit of alloy trim down with you? I can go back but not for a week or ten days - if you can't make it down then I will and am happy to take anything else with me!

Precision made the new screens for Charleston, fantastic job, lovely people, they have a little store full top to toe of previous molds and managed to find one to suit Charleston , you will be very pleased

That looks amazing Peter - is that a blue tint or the plastic fil that they use to protect the screen during fitting? I know that back in the 60s some of the boats went for tinted screens - with pale blue being a popular option. I'm not sure at this point to just go clear or aim for a tint, it would certainly look smart. I was on board today and trying to work this out - the frames are all still in place so I've 'very clear' views forrard....would that be better tinted?

Hi Dougal, no it's just the protection, they are clear, currently forming a template to create the top section. In S/S channel with stress supports to act as grab handles and also for attaching the Bimini/screen

I think you are referring to the ICI Acrylic Perspex part no 7704 Second Blue tint. I found this tint made it much easier to spot flotsam than the blue.
Unfortunately, when Fibresports supplied new screens some time ago, I was informed this second colour blue tint was only to special order which made the cost prohibitive. Whilst the Blue made nervous helming, the good news came when I noticed the Blue tint was starting to fade!
Interestingly I still have an original part sheet of the second Blue tint with ICI stamped part no. supplied by Fairey's!
In 2014 a company supplied a sample of the 7704 Blue tint, but by then probably not a ICI product.
I do wonder therefore is 7704 a B.S. number and not unique to ICI.
If we all like the second colour tint that the factory Spearfish was supplied with, perhaps we could order a few sheets as a Club, if someone has suitable storage space!

A quick update on the blue tint situation. I was down with the team at Precision Units again today and we looked at the issue of going for the 7704 which is available. PU normally do their screens either clear or with a grey tint, but if they can squeeze my screens into a single sheet then they're happy to do the blue at little or no extra cost. What they didn't want was a large amount of blue left over (unless I wanted to carry the cost of the excess material). I'll do another update when I know if it is to be clear or blue!
I'm hoping to do some extra work with PU, so I'll have shots of the process they go through, from marking out to moulding. Fingers crossed that this all comes together, then I can share the details with you.
