Propellers and sterngear
Could I enlist the help please of all boat owners.
I am doing some work for the FOC magazine on this topic; I am doing a straw poll and I need some feedback from boat owners.
Can you please let me know if you have used Hamble Propellers (near the River Hamble strangely enough) for work on your props or for that matter anything else, say over the last 5 or so years. No other comment required. Its to do with effectiveness of advertising in the magazine. If you prefer send me an email at paul_patenall@hotmail.com
Thank you
Paul

I don't know if you know their background Paul, but if I remember rightly they came out of the ashes of the original Hamble propellors. HP were bought out by Teignbridge some years ago and Paul and Ted were left behind. They started small and have since grown to quite a big market share now. Ted draws them and Paul bashes them! When we hit the rock in RB they repaired 2 mangled(and I mean mangled!) props in double quick time. I dropped them off after lunch and had them back the following morning (with one brand new shaft) in time for the early flight from Eastleigh to Inverness. Fitted them about 4am and racing by 8am!.
Can't recommend them enough
cheers Jonathan

Their extreame knowledge goes right back to the 1930's, Hubert Scott Paine and all that, also Miss England etc. Today these are the kids.!!
Power Propeller Company made all the props for Fairey in the late 1950's & 1960's also a few Columbine Props came over(USA) but these where a bit old fashioned with clover leaf shaped blades, but OK at 22 kts.
Finch of PP & Co started off in his back garden, but Mrs Finch complained about the noise so he had the factory at Woolston. etc etc but all this is another story.
We got 'Fairey Fast One' Huntsman 28 up to 49.8 kts, AVB's effort only went 38 kts. The current Hamble Propellor boys made a set which we chromed for fun and she almost made 50 kts easily. (crusing at 47kts) Huntsman 909 was some 10kts slower than this. The curve should be a straight line.
