Thanks Ben,

Already have plenty of AM BR in stock for deck and window fittings so should save a few pennies in the process! :-)

Ben. Just a thought. Referring to your rubbing strake and toe rail you say you plan to 'stain it for uniform colour before varnish'. I have seen a couple of instances where people have taken this approach - actually both were the topsides of varnished wooden Dragons - and in neither case did it come out as planned. Both boats had accumulated a number of dark marks from berthing incidents, chafing from mooring chains, battle damage etc., as well as places where new planks had been let in which didn't quite match What happened when they were stained was that everything was darkened to roughly the same extent, so that the marks were still almost as apparent as they were before staining. The staining made the whole boat darker, but it didn't lead to a uniform colour. So unless you do some very clever selective staining .......

Tim, yes, thank you, useful comment.

I have my reservations about the stain, not just the dark marks still showing but also and vestiges of old varnish show up white very clearly.

I've finished the sanding today, already for the first coat and I am 90% sure I'm going to hit with Epifanes and not stain it....I think....

The little blocks from the handrails, some of them needed a bit of epoxy and teak surgery.

Man flu was near fatal, thankfully I survived, to think women have the audacity to moan about childbirth when us men have to deal with man-flu....

I was hoping to go for a launch prior to next weekend, but I think I'll miss that. We'll see.

50mtrs posh new blue mooring warp.

Surveyor wanted new fire extinguishers, I'm not sure why, they have a manufactured date but not an expiry date, the pressure gauges were showing green, any how, new ones in the cockpit, cabin and engine box. See that brass tread by the cabin door, been refitted for the first time in years!

Image

GPS fitted and working. DSC radio fitted and working. For the first time in 10 years I have a working steaming light on the mast.

New socket in the cabin so the crew can use a hair dryer, new distribution panel, new 24v charger and new shore power socket.

Image

Polished, painted, varnished, antifouled, new fenders, new warps, in the slings tonight to paint the patches, launch tomorrow.

Do you know Robin I had thought that myself, I'm likely to be a little more bullish about the final sale price than perhaps I would have been last year, she is looking the best she has to the 10 years I've had her and more importantly is in the best shape structurally. As much as I now think it would be a pity to sell, I still want a H31.
